Biography

Mohammad Ali Bhatti is a Pakistani American painter; currently he resides in Houston Texas. He first came to the US in the early 1990's to earn his MFA from Edinboro University in Pennsylvania. He then earned his Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Arts from Ohio University, Athens. He has been a professor of Art at Ohio University as well as an instructor at the Glassell School of Art Houston. For the last 30 years he has painted and exhibited around the world, resulting in more than 35 solo exhibitions and numerous juried shows; including places such as Turkey, Italy, Uzbekistan, Glasgow, United Kingdom, Nepal, Thailand, Pakistan, Dubai, Egypt, Russia, Mexico, China, India, Chile, Singapore, and Malaysia, and the United Arab Emirates.

Mohammad Ali Bhatti’s art is an exploration of movement, energy, and the raw emotion that emerges from the act of creating a painting. Through bold strokes, dynamic textures, and an intuitive use of color, he seeks to capture the essence of motion—both physical and emotional—on the canvas. He often works in layers, building depth and texture through overlapping marks, drips, and sweeping movements. There is an inherent beauty in both the silence and the spontaneity of mark-making—where stillness exists within the dynamic, and every brushstroke becomes an unfiltered response to the present. These silent moments of creation, the pauses between movements, give the work its rhythm, allowing space for reflection amid the energy. His work serves as a reminder that often chaos and calm are not opposites, but complementary forces. Together, they create the rhythm of existence and the spaces where beauty, insight, and meaning are born.

Currently a member of the Watercolor Society Houston, and the International Watercolor Committee, Mohammad Ali Bhatti creates works using many mediums that burst with color and positive energy.
